'I Just Need Little More Tang': Pizza Guru Portnoy Left Stumped By Milton Pizzeria

Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy thought he was being tricked.

Dave is back where the original Barstool office started and is surprised to find a pizza place he somehow missed.

Portnoy visited the Peel Pizza at 538 Adams St. for his "One Bite Pizza Review" YouTube show last week and couldn't believe he'd never been there. The restaurant is within walking distance of the original Milton office of Barstool Sports at 75 Adams Street, and it opened in 2013 when he and several others were plugging away at the original version of the sports and gambling website.

But how was the pizza? Good. Actually, better than good, teetering on the edge of great, he said.

"It's great crisp, light, fresh, crackery, (and) has a good crunch," he said after finishing his first piece. "It's just the bite, I need a little more tang."

Portnoy gave Peel Pizza a 7.9 and was nearly an 8.1 if not for the sauce, which he called "bland."

Peel Pizza has restaurants throughout the South Shore, and it's unclear when the Milton location opened its doors. A call to the store for clarification was not immediately returned.

The location of the restaurant wasn't the only thing confusing Portnoy. That befuddlement stretched into the entirety of the review as the "El Presidente" couldn't get past how the pie was sliced after falling into a rabbit hole about time zones.

Portnoy is finishing up a string of reviews of South Shore restaurants. Peel Pizza finished second among his recent reviews with Next Page Cafe in Weymouth topping the list with a score of 8.1.
